January 8, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Untitled Seattle Premier of The Dream Song of Olaf Åsteson Performed in the Movement Art of Eurythmy

January 8, 2016 @ 7:30 pm – January 8, 2016 @ 8:30 pm

Eurythmy Northwest, with Vancouver speech artist Patricia Smith, and concert pianist Wolfgang Wortberg will present “The Dream Song of Olaf Åsteson” on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., at the Seattle Waldorf School, Huckleberry Hall, 2728 NE 100th St, Seattle. In this ancient Norwegian folk saga of the Holy Nights, a young man, Olaf Åsteson, sleeps for 12 days and nights and experiences a journey of inner awakening. This folk saga was choreographed into eurythmy by the Austrian artist, philosopher and scientist Rudolf Steiner and set to original music by Jan Stuten in 1921. This folk saga will be performed in the movement art of eurythmy, which transforms speech and music to movement and color. The eurythmy troupe Eurythmy Northwest combines eurythmists from Washington and British Columbia and has been performing in the Pacific Northwest since 2005. They present a wide range of folk and fairy tales, poetry and musical pieces in schools, private institutions and public venues. Vancouver speech artist Patricia Smith is an old friend of the group and delighted to accompany them in this unique and wonderful story. Known for his musical insight, beautiful tone, and technical command, pianist Wolfgang Wortberg has performed in venues across the United States and Europe. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $15.00 for seniors, and students are free. The performance is appropriate for children over 14 years old. Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets, and at the performance.
